Ganesha Trance – Bomb Bay

Breaking out of the German techno and hardcore scene of the early ’90s, the genre of trance emphasised brief synthesizer lines repeated endlessly throughout tracks, with only the addition of minimal rhythmic changes and occasional synthesizer atmospherics to distinguish them. In effect, putting listeners into a trance that approached those of a religious origin which, in this case, focuses on Lord Ganesha. Despite waning interest in the sound during the mid-’90s, trance made a big comeback later in the decade, even supplanting house as the most popular dance music of choice around the globe and, in this instance, Mumbai, as the very obviously named Bomb Bay suggests. The DJ has composed, produced, engineered, mixed, and mastered “Ganesha Trance” and has made the track into a very clearly kinetic dance record, demonstrating multiple influences including distinctive trip-hop and techno, creating an energetic, multi-layered track where instruments float in and out of the mix over a deep, robust fast-paced groove. Bringing a bit of godliness onto the platform certainly helps as Bomb Bay introduces Sanskrit shlokas in support of “Ganesha Trance”, ensuring a perfect fitment into his trance-fat product.
