Hawa Badlo – Harshdeep Kaur & Javed Ali

Hawa Badlo

As a noble cause to spread awareness on the ever increasing, and ongoing problem of air pollution, especially in the metros of India, is an initiative spearheaded by the Gas Authority of India. The result is a song called “Hawa Badlo”, created by music director Bishakh Jyoti, and supported by the vocals of two New Delhi-based playback singers, Harshdeep Kaur and Javed Hussain, the latter changing his surname to Ali in honor of his guru, ghazal legend Ghulam Ali.

While there is no denying the strength of the lyrics of “Hawa Badlo” by Tanvir Ghazi and Protiqe Mojoomdar but, unfortunately, the musical content does not represent the same power of the environmental subject in terms of either the arrangements or instrumentation, where the drum programming is provided unnecessary prominence. Nevertheless, it is the support of singers Harshdeep Kaur and Javed Ali that essentially sees the song through to the level of its required musical and, more notably, environmental importance.
