One has to acknowledge the initiative of leading singer-composer Tochi Raina in forming a group of his trusted musicians by the name of Band Of Bandagi. In launching an album of six tracks under the brand of ‘Sufi Acoustica’, Tochiji has also provided support to new singers to showcase their talent. For instance, on “Ranjha Ranjha”, a richly textured, catchy folk tune at its melodic best, composed by Tochiji with Neeru, Band Of Bandagi has focused on a student by the name of Moninder Agrohiya, who shows tremendous maturity in his singing, which he does so with confidence. The lyrics of legendary poet Baba Bulleh Shah are provided justice with the support of the guitar talent of Chintoo Singh Wasir, further enhancing the uptempo tune. Marvelously executive produced by the team at Thinkerz, who have effectively supported the composition, design, and arrangements of Tochi Raina.

Print

Mumbai’s Finest co-founder, rapper Sumeet Suvarna continues his solo career as Nasty Ninja on “Banger”. In sticking to the trademark sounds of virtually no instrumentation, this time around courtesy music director Crazy Vibe, Nasty Ninja receives vocal support from his Beast Mode Crew, consisting of YOUNG FLYSICK, WILD CHILD, LOKKA MUSIC, FLEXX, PANTHER, and NOVA. The usage of Hinglish appears to support the hip-hop trend on “Banger” of minimalistic music and repetitive beats.

Fireflood – Fireflood

Fireflood Artwork

Fireflood is a Bangalore-based gospel band formed in May 2014 by vocalist Jeven John and lead guitarist Willy Karlukhi. The sounds of their self-titled album, ‘Fireflood’, consisting of 12 tracks, is straight-forward rock predominantly influenced by the ‘90s. While each of the band’s seven musicians shows their competence on their respective instruments, it is eventually the fine vocals of Jeven John and his co-singer, Kekhrie Ringa, which make the compositions notable. While there are no detours from Fireflood’s focus, among the highlights are the funky “Rain”, and the rollicking shuffle of “Letting Go”. An impressive effort!
